GURNEE, IL — Hurricane Harbor will be opening soon with new restrictions in place meant to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The waterpark will open for members on July 20 and to the general public on July 27.
Meanwhile, the rest of the Six Flags Great America theme park in Gurnee will remain closed.
The water park’s reopening was developed in consultation with epidemiologists and “meets or exceeds federal, state, and local guidelines for sanitization, hygiene, and social distancing protocols,” according to a statement posted on the Six Flags Great America website.
Those stopping out to the park will receive health screenings and park reservations will be required for anyone wanting to visit Hurricane Harbor. The water park began taking reservations on Friday. Social distancing will be enforced and extensive sanitization and disinfecting protocols will be in place at the park, according to the park’s website.
