Club Pilates SLO takes fitness classes outdoors during COVID-19 pandemic

Club Pilates San Luis Obispo is finding creative ways to keep community members safe and fit during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Pilates studio is taking fitness classes outdoors to stay open as local and state health officials order indoor fitness centers to close indefinitely in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Traci and Brad Stevenson, the owners of the Pilates studio, said they require guests to stay at least six feet apart, not share equipment and wipe down equipment before and after each class.

The owners said they are rolling with the punches and working hard to keep their guests moving.

“We’re just not going down without a fight this time,” said Traci. “Whatever it takes to stay open and keep this community moving, that’s what’s important to us.”

Since the start of the pandemic, the studio owners have also installed a new medical-grade air filtration system, virucidal air fogging machine and touch-free hand sanitizer.

The couple said community members of all fitness levels and all ages are welcome to attend a Pilates class.
