The Cape Fear Valley HealthPlex health and fitness center has reopened with temporary hours and safety precautions, a Cape Fear Valley Health spokesman said.
The center at 1930 Skibo Road is open from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday with the pool closing at 7:30 p.m. Saturday hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Temperature checks and COVID-19 screenings will be done at the main front door before members can check in, the spokesman said. The rear check-in entrance is closed.
Members are required to practice social distancing and to wear a mask whenever not exercising.
Modified group fitness classes have returned with limited capacity, and limited hydro power and warm-water arthritis classes have resumed. Massages are currently suspended.
Pool lanes will allow one swimmer at a time, for a maximum of 45 minutes, for lap-swimming. The center’s free swim is currently suspended. Swimmers must shower before entering the water.
Whirlpools and steam rooms are temporarily off-limits, the center said. Reservations are required at the Healthplex play center, with a maximum of two-and-a-half hours per day available. Infants are allowed, and all children will have their temperature checked.
The staff is asking that members stay as far apart as possible when exercising and to wash their hands frequently. More information is available at capefearvalley.com/healthplex/index.html.
