Niche, an online rankings website, released its “2020 Best Places to Live in Wisconsin” report, and eight of the top 10 are Milwaukee-area suburbs.
Niche’s rankings are based on crime, public schools, cost of living, job opportunities, and local amenities from data from the U.S. Census, FBI, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other sources, according to its website.
According to the list:
The best place to live in the state is Elm Grove. It received A+ ratings for its public schools, health and fitness, and for being good for families; A’s for housing and jobs, and A- for outdoor activities and nightlife. Its lower marks were B- for diversity and commute.
Whitefish Bay came in at No. 2. It got A+ for its public schools and being good for families; A’s for jobs; and A- for housing, outdoor activities, nightlife, commute and health and fitness. B’s were given for crime and diversity, and B- for cost of living.
Shoreword ranked third. It got A+ for public schools and being good for families, just like Whitefish Bay. A’s were given for nightlife and commute; and A- for outdoor activities, and health and fitness. One of its lower marks was a C+ for cost of living.
Other Milwaukee-area suburbs that made the top 10 include Brookfield (No. 5), Bayside (No. 6), Fox Point (No. 7), Cedarburg (No. 8), and Mequon (No. 9).
Thiensville, Wauwatosa, Nashotah, River Hills and Glendale made the top 20.
